What is transport insurance?

Transport insurance is a smart choice in order to cover any financial loss if a product is subject to damage or loss during transport. A carrier only has limited liability for damage to the product that he or she transports.

Additional insurance

Interruption loss fixed location. Only applies to transport goods for sale and insured on the A policy.
Loss due to temperature effect (called thermal clause) during transport.
Expenses from totally damaged insured goods (called wreck removal) during transport.

How can you customise your insurance?

Sale of goods
This cover is suitable for companies that want an annual agreement for all of their transportation domestically and internationally, and which either carry the risk or must insure the product under the agreed terms of delivery.
Time insurance
This cover is suitable for assets that the company is going to transport within Norway.
Own products in own vehicles
This cover is suitable for companies that want to have annual insurance for transporting their own products in their own vehicles, and that transport products that have a lower value. If the company has products of a greater value, we recommend cover for “sale of goods”.
Individual insurance
Individual insurance covers transport of products and items once, for a distance the company specifies in advance and which lasts for a specific time period. The insurance is suitable for both companies and private individuals.

3. Choose between three different policies

All dangers (A)
This option covers all dangers that the products may be exposed to during transport. Often used for products that are more fragile.

Extended transport accident (B)
Covers damage/losses resulting from the road freight being involved in an accident, for example going off the road, axle breakage or ship grounding. In addition, this option covers fire, natural damage, products that are thrown or washed overboard, damage from flooding, full loss of the full load when loading and unloading, moving products in emergency ports and general average. This insurance is often used for products that are not fragile and used goods. We recommend this as a minimum for all sea transport.

Transport accident (C)
A limited option that covers damage caused by the road freight being involved in an accident or exposed to fire, natural damage or general average. Often used for products that are not fragile but which already have some deficiencies or damage.
