Road traffic insurance tax has replaced the former annual vehicle tax. The authorities have decided that all registered vehicles with statutory liability insurance must pay this tax. The insurance companies collect the tax for the government.

On the invoice, the road traffic insurance tax is specified for each vehicle and the amount is spread across the same number of installments as the insurance contract.

Some vehicles you insure are used more frequently depending on the season. The price of the insurance therefore varies according to the season for these – known as seasonally varied pricing.

Among other things, this applies to motorcycles, mopeds, snowmobiles, boats and jet skis.

Should the insurance expire outside of the principal maturity date, the price is settled for the period during which the insurance has been in force. The price is calculated based on a table that you will find in the insurance agreement.

A no-claims bonus is a prize for damage-free driving. The higher the no-claims bonus, the lower the insurance price.

Some of the insurance policies for vehicles have parking damage without loss of no-claims bonus included in the coverage you select. This means that you avoid losing your no-claims bonus for damage caused to your car by others while it’s parked.

If you are responsible for the damage, you lose your no-claims bonus when you use the insurance.

When you deregister your car or vehicle, you must remember that the insurance is automatically terminated.

Even if you don’t use your vehicle, if it’s only in storage etc., accidents can still occur. For example, a fire in a garage or burglary and theft. This makes it necessary to have insurance to be covered.

It is therefore a good idea to insure the deregistered vehicle with storage insurance. With storage insurance, you are covered if a fire should occur in the garage or someone should steal your car from the storage location. Get in touch to insure your deregistered car or vehicle.

It is not legal to use deregistered vehicles. Before you put your car back on the road, you need to register it again. You will then need to insure it with a minimum of statutory liability insurance.
