You can now use Tæpp with Vipps! Hold your mobile phone close to the card terminal, and just like that - you’ve paid. On an iPhone, double-click the side button, and on Android just unlock your mobile. Quick and easy!
How do I activate Tæpp with Vipps?
Open Vipps and tap ‘Activate now’ at the top of the screen
Follow the steps to set up contactless payments
Press "Me" and then "Set as default payment app"
You are now ready to use Tæpp with Vipps in Norway.

To use tæpp without opening Vipps, you need to select Vipps as the default payment app in the settings on your mobile phone.
iPhone:

Tips
Remember that you must have set Vipps as your default payment app. If you haven’t done this, you can still use Tæpp with Vipps, but you’ll have to open Vipps first.

Tæppe-payments let you pay with your debit/credit card or mobile phone without having to insert your card or enter your PIN. You've probably already seen it in action: Someone holding their debit/credit card or mobile phone up to a card terminal.
Now that you can use tæppe with Vipps, it means you can pay with Vipps at a card terminal in Norway – without even having to open the Vipps app.
Yes, it works at almost every shop in Norway. The card terminal must accept BankAxept cards, which most of them do in Norway.
Make tæppe-payments with Vipps at the supermarket, in the shoe shop, at the train station, in the pet shop, at the auto repair shop and so on.
It doesn’t work at the following:
Shops with terminals that only accept Visa (Strawberry hotels, on flights and typically small businesses that use iZettle card terminals, such as nail salons)
Psst! In plenty of time for the 2025 summer holidays, you can also make tæppe- payments with Vipps via Visa and MasterCard, which means you can use Vipps all around the world.

Making Vipps your default payment app means you can use tæppe without opening Vipps. How to set it up:
1. Open Vipps and press ‘Me’ in the bottom right corner
2. Enable ‘Make Vipps default payment app’
3. Follow the steps and it’s ready to use!
