Updating proof of identity
It is important that we hold valid and updated proof of identity for the people in the company.

We offer various proof of identity options. Select the option that suits you best:
- Upload a photo/copy of the proof of identity in the online bank (for yourself or on behalf of someone else in the company)
- Provide proof of identity at a DNB office in Norway
- Provide proof of identity with a digital ID check (only for people who also have a retail customer account with us)

We have sent a letter to the corporate online bank and by regular post to the companies this applies to. In the letter you will find a list of the people that need to update their proof of identity.
Note! Only the administrator and/or orderer can see the letter in the corporate online bank. You can see who the administrator is under ‘My administrators’ on the right-hand side of the home page in the corporate online bank.
The banks must ensure that they have updated and sufficient data stored about their customers at all times, and they must check and confirm their identity. This is to comply with the Money Laundering Act which applies to all banks.
Even if the bank has known the customer well, the banks must obtain copies of valid identification documents in cases where they no longer hold sufficient or correct information about the customer.
Upload a photo/copy of your proof of identity to the corporate online bank
If you have access to the corporate online bank, you can upload your photo/copy of proof of identity.
Administrators in the corporate online bank can upload on behalf of people who do not have access.
Tips
You’ll see who is an administrator under ‘My administrators’ on the right of the corporate online bank’s home page.
You can choose from:
- Passport
- Norwegian national ID card
- ID card from an EU/EEA country
- Norwegian driving licence from 1998 or newer
- Norwegian bank card with photo from another bank
- Norwegian immigrant's passport or Norwegian travel certificate for refugees
Note! People who do not have a Norwegian national identity number or temporary social security number (D-number) must include a confirmed correct copy of proof of identity.
A confirmed correct copy must be certified with a stamp and signature from the police, court, public agency, financial institution, investment firm, management company, real estate agent, auditor, accountant or lawyer.
Remember to include all important pages, the picture must be clear, and the text must be legible.
Tips
Remember to delete photos/copies of proof of identity from your computer or mobile phone after you have sent it to us.
To find the form, click on the link below and log in to the corporate online bank.
Enter your user ID which consists of two letters and five numbers (example: TB12345).
Then select your preferred log in method. You can choose between BankID, BankID on mobile or without BankID (code device only).
Fill out the form, upload an image/copy as an attachment and send it in to us.
Provide proof of identity at a DNB office Norway
You can choose from:
- Passport
- Norwegian national ID card
- ID card from an EU/EEA country
- Norwegian driving licence from 1998 or newer
- Norwegian bank card with photo from another bank
- Norwegian immigrant's passport or Norwegian travel certificate for refugees
Remember!
- The proof of identity’s expiry date must not have passed
- Emergency passports are not valid
- Bank cards must be from another bank, bank cards from DNB will not be accepted
It is only possible to provide proof of identity at our branches in Norway. Most of the branches have a drop-in service, but some are only available by appointment.
Proof of identity with digital ID check
The digital ID check only works for people who also have a retail customer account with us.
To confirm your identity with the Bank ID app, you need valid proof of identity. Choose from:
- Valid passport (Norwegian or foreign)
- Norwegian national ID card
- ID card from an EU/EEA country
Download the BankID app before you begin. You can download it from the App Store for Apple iPhone or Google Play for Android phones. You will find the app by searching for ‘BankID’.
The Bank ID app requires you to update your phone:
- iPhones must be using iOS 13 or newer
- Android phones must be 7.0 or newer

How to find the letter in the inbox:
- Log in to the corporate online bank
- Click on ‘i’ in the top right hand corner and then ‘Inbox’
- Read the message about updating proof of identity and click on the attachment link to open the letter

No, you don’t have to. You only have to submit your proof of identity once. Your proof of identity will be updated for all of the companies you have a role in.
The following serve as valid proof of identity:
- Norwegian or foreign passport
- Norwegian immigrant's passport
- Norwegian travel document for refugees
- Norwegian national ID card
- ID card from an EU/EEA country
- Norwegian driving licence issued after 01.01.1998
- Norwegian bank card with photo, from another bank
- bankID from other bank (not issued by DNB)
Remember!
- The proof of identity’s expiry date must not have passed
- Emergency passports are not valid
- Bank cards must be from another bank, bank cards from DNB will not be accepted
Even though we trust our customers and expect the proof of identity we receive to be authentic, we are obliged by the Norwegian authorities to obtain proof of identity from our customers that can confirm the customer’s identity.
Since DNB does not have a valid copy of your proof of identity, your bank card from DNB will not be approved as valid proof of identity until we have received a different confirmation of your identity. This is not because DNB does not believe that you are who you say you are. But as a bank we are obliged by the authorities to be able to refer to other documentation (not issued by DNB) that confirms your identity.
To verify your identity we therefore need valid proof of identity such as your passport or bank card (with photo) from another bank that has already confirmed your identity.
